Who we are

The Chicago Black Artist Union was co-founded by multi-instrumentalist Isaiah Collier and choreographer Kennedy Banks-Battle, who share a passion for building community and creating resources for both emerging and established artists. The Union was formed to help those who may not yet know how to navigate the broader world of art, encouraging them not to remain confined to a single discipline.

Its mission is to foster full collaboration across the arts, breaking down stagnant walls of separation and proving that artists need not wait for major grants or institutions in order to work together. In addition, the Union serves as a liaison for artists learning how to present themselves professionally, while also offering initiative-driven community programming that uplifts and empowers creative voices.
